People in the towns surrounding the Temelín Nuclear Power Station have lived with its looming presence since construction began in 1987, but are no longer terribly concerned about their safety. While the plant contributes financially through employment opportunities and community investment, they mostly complain about the significantly higher cost of their electricity compared to other regions within the Republic.
